About Me

I create wearable works of art and post them online to raise awareness of important issues that humans generally don't consider, such as cyber security, mental health, and fast fashion. To represent my intention to abolish fast fashion, I combine several techniques, like graphic design, illustration, printmaking, and sewing.   Through my work, I educate people on how we can work together to create change. I thrive on changing the purpose of clothes that I find at second-hand stores and create them into new objects, giving them a new life. Ripping threads seam by seam, I have created “Sashiko Hat”, my most recent piece, to raise awareness of the environmental crisis brought on by textile waste. I am urging others to mend worn-out or outdated clothing using the traditional embroidery technique known as Sashiko, a type of mending used for both decorative and functional reinforcement of clothing. This connects to my earlier work, "Hecho en Mexico," which was motivated by David Hammon's African American flag. To demonstrate how our expensive clothing is a representation of modern-day slavery, "Hecho en Mexico" is totally handmade using Levi's jeans made in Mexico. I want my creations to make consumers pause and think twice before purchasing a garment from a fast fashion label to reduce harm to the environment.
